Section 8.04 (c) of the Revised Dublin Charter authorizes Council, by a vote of no less than five (5) members, to waive the competitive bidding requirement if it determines that such waiver is in the best interest of the City. This year, as in years past, the alcoholic beverage sponsor of the D1F is Killian's Irish Red. In exchange for the sponsorship dollars and advertising support provided by Killian's, the DIF serves products only offered by Coors, the parent company of Killian's Irish Red. Superior Beverage Group of Columbus is the sole distributor for the Killian's Irish Red and Coors products in central Ohio. Expenditures for the purchase of alcoholic beverages for the 2007 DIF are estimated at $80,000. Appropriate funding for this purchase has been authorized by the Dublin City Council in the 2007 operating budget. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of Resolution 28-07 at the Monday, May 7 Council meeting.
