Resolution 22-07, Acknowledging the Donation of Certain Property
by R.C. Olmstead, Inc.
R.C. Olmstead, Inc. has graciously donated a sculpture series entitled "Cartwheel" to the
City of Dublin. The series is three life-size bronzes of a young girl completing a cartwheel.
The work was commissioned by R.C. Olmstead from Thailand artist Tana Chamerkhom in
1990. Since the commission, R.C. Olmstead has been looking for an appropriate
installation location that matches the playful nature of the series and has worked with City
staff and Pat Grabill, the developer of the Village at Coffman Park, to select a site along a
retention pond and bike path at Wall Street Park as shown on the attached map. The
sculptures and a small recognition plaque will be installed this spring at the City's expense.
Council's approval of this resolution will provide formal notice into the record of R.C.
Olmstead's donation and provide approval for the installation location. R.C. Olmstead will
also be recognized with a proclamation at Monday's meeting and will execute a formal
donation agreement with the City Manager to finalize the donation details.
This donation supports Council's goal to make public art more accessible throughout the
community and provides a unique and highly valued way for corporate citizens to be
engaged in the City.
As part of the donation, the City will manage all maintenance, inspections and insurance for
the artwork. The pieces are meant to age to a nice patina and will require very little ongoing
maintenance.
R.C. Olmstead, Inc. provides the premier data processing system used by the credit union
industry. The company has become a leader by developing software solutions that offer
flexibility and user-friendly interface, while providing high quality customer support services.
The company was founded in 1977 by Robert Olmstead and has grown to over 40
employees today. The company's headquarters is located at 5555 Wall Street.
