AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A
CEMETERY ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin places high value on citizen involvement and participation,
in the governance process; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin City Council deems it necessary to have a board of citizens to advise
it on matters related to cemeteries, lands and services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of
Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring that:
i n 1 A Cemetery Advisory Board of the City of Dublin is hereby established to address
and to make recommendations to Council on cemetery related issues at the request of
Council, and also at the request of Council to serve as afact-finding body on behalf of City
Council and its Public Services Committee concerning such issues.
e i n 2 The Cemetery Advisory Board shall perform the following duties:
A. To advise City Council regarding the implementation and oversight of the
Dublin Community as it addresses issues and strategies related to
cemeteries
B. To advise City Council regarding the condition, quality of services and
historical integrity of Dublin's cemeteries.
C. To advise City Council regarding the ongoing restoration and beautification
of the City's cemeteries.
D. To advise City Council concerning the policies and guidelines for the use and
operations of the City's cemeteries.
E. To advise City Council concerning the acquisition of property for cemetery
purposes.
F. To perform such other duties and function as referred by City Council.
i n 3. The Cemetery Advisory Board shall act solely in an advisory capacity to Council
and all reports and proposals shall be made to Council.
i n 4 The Cemetery Advisory Board may call upon the City Manger and, through the
City Manager, any department of the City to render assistance to the Advisory Board as may
reasonably be required.
cti n 5. The Cemetery Advisory Board shall meet as determined necessary by the Chair
of the Board. The Advisory Board shall comply with Section 7.02 of the Revised Charter of
Dublir>, Ohio. Minutes of all of the Advisory Board's activities shall be kept and forwarded
to Council, and an annual report covering the Advisory Board's activities shall be prepared
by the Advisory Board each year.
ction 6. The Cemetery Advisory Board shall be comprised of three members appointed by
Council who shall serve three year terms. Terms shall commence upon appointment and end
on March 31 in the year of the completed term. Members shall serve in accordance with
Section 7.02 of the Revised Charter of Dublin, Ohio. In order to provide for staggering of

terms, the initial appointments to the Board shall be: one member for one year; one member
for two yeazs; and one member for three yeazs. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for three
yeaz terms. Council shall endeavor to appoint persons representative of historic preservation
and cemetery interests.
i n 7 This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from the earliest period allowed
by law.
