Re: Ordinance 92-97, Purchase of 12 acres of Parkland in Amberleigh North
Initiated by: Marsha I. Grigsby, Director of Finance ~'d-
As you will recall, agreement was reached with the developer of Amberleigh North that
provided the City with the opportunity to purchase 12 acres of land along the Scioto River.
The 12 acres abut the 9.614 acre tract dedicated as parkland by the developer and will allow
the City to maximize the park acreage along the river and to develop acommunity-scale
park in the future.
Payments to the property owner will be made 50% upon closing and 50% on or before
January 31, 1998. This method of payment will allow the purchase to be made from funds
available in the Parkland Acquisition Fund. After the purchase agreement is executed and
the 50% is paid upon closing, the balance in the Parkland Acquisition Fund will be
approximately $161,000.. With next year's allocation from the Capital Improvements Tax
Fund to the Parkland Acquisition Fund sufficient funds will be available to pay the
remaining 50% due on or before January 31, 1998.
