Form No. 30043 160-97 Ordinance No.--- ------------------- Passed-- --- ----- ---- --------------- --- -- ------19- AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID FOR THE SENSORY GARDEN PROJECT AT M.L. "RED" TRABUE NATURE RESERVE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, after advertising and receiving bids for the Sensory Garden project at M.L. "Red" Trabue Nature Reserve on Wednesday, November 26, 1997, Council has determined that the base bid of $62,430.00 and bid alternate 2 at $5,550.00 submitted by Land Techniques is the lowest and best bid; and WHEREAS, funding for the Sensory Garden project at M.L. "Red" Trabue Nature Reserve project has been provided by hotel/motel tax funds, capital improvement tax funds, and by donations from the Lions Club, the Dublin Educators' Association, the Ohio Educators' Association and the Dublin Fund. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Dublin, State of Ohio, ~ of the elected members concurring: . ection 1. That the base bid and bid alternate 2 in the amount of $62,430.00 and $5,550.00 respectively, submitted by Land Techniques is hereby accepted. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Land Techniques for completion of the project, pursuant to the bid specifications and ""' documents on file in the office of the Parks Maintenance division. ~,,., Section 3. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety or welfare, and for the further reason that the timeframes for completion of the project require emergency action. Therefore, the ordinance shall be effective upon passage in accordance with Section 4.05 of the Revised Charter. "Red" Trabue Nature Reserve Initiated By: Fred Hahn, Director of Grounds & Facilitiesc~ Memo On November 26, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., bids were opened on the Sensory Garden at M.L. "Red" Trabue Nature Reserve. The publicly announced base bid was estimated at $67,000.00. Three bids were received. 1). Land Techniques $ 62,430.00 2). ReipenhoffLandscape 114,541.00 3). Buckeye Landscape 122,961.39 The project consists of various theme gardens, seating, paved areas, retaining walls, and miscelleaneous site improvements. Funding for this project comes from an combination of Hotel/Motel Tax Fund, Capital Improvement Tax Fund, donations from the Lions Club, the Dublin Educators' Association, the Ohio Educator's Association and the Dublin Fund. Staff is recommending the acceptance of Land Techniques' base bid of $62,430.00, along with bid alternate #2 which consist of a garden trellis at $5,550.00 Total cost of these improvements is $67,980.00.
